Celebrating National Recovery Month at 7th Street Treatment Center

| Sarah Warrengooglechat |

September marks National Recovery Month—a time to honor the resilience of individuals overcoming addiction and to raise awareness about the importance of accessible treatment and support systems. At 7th Street Treatment Center, we are proud to be part of this movement, offering comprehensive care and a supportive community to those on their journey to recovery.

What is National Recovery Month?

Established in 1989 by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), National Recovery Month is observed every September to celebrate the nation’s strong and proud recovery community. It serves as a reminder that recovery is possible, and that individuals can lead fulfilling lives free from addiction. The theme for 2024, “Art of Recovery,” emphasizes the creative and deeply personal journey that individuals embark on during their recovery from addiction and mental health disorders. Recovery is not a one-size-fits-all process; it is unique to each person, much like art. Just as artists use different mediums, techniques, and expressions to convey their emotions and perspectives, individuals in recovery use various tools, therapies, and support systems to rebuild their lives.

How 7th Street Treatment Center Supports Recovery

At 7th Street Treatment Center, we believe that recovery is about more than just breaking free from addiction—it’s about rebuilding lives, fostering connections, and creating a supportive community that sustains long-term sobriety. Our wraparound services are designed to nurture relationships, providing individuals with the tools and support they need to thrive. We offer various levels of care tailored to each individual’s needs, ensuring that everyone receives the appropriate treatment and support.

One of our signature events is the annual Lake Powell recovery trip, scheduled for September 29 – October 5, 2025. This transformative week allows residents, alumni, and the recovery community to come together to celebrate sobriety, build connections, and experience the joy of life without addictive substances. It’s a powerful reminder that recovery is not just about abstinence but about embracing a fulfilling and meaningful life.

Ways to Get Involved

National Recovery Month is an opportunity for everyone to participate in spreading awareness and supporting those in recovery. Here are some ways you can get involved:

  • Share Your Story: Personal stories of recovery can inspire others and reduce stigma. If you’re comfortable, consider sharing your journey on social media or at local events.
  • Participate in Local Events: Many communities host events such as recovery walks, art exhibits, and educational workshops during National Recovery Month. Check local listings to find events near you.
  • Support Advocacy Efforts: Advocacy plays a vital role in advancing the cause of addiction recovery. By raising awareness, challenging stigma, and promoting access to treatment, advocacy efforts help create a more supportive environment for those affected by addiction and mental health disorders.
  • Donate: Your contributions can make a significant impact. Donations help fund critical programs and resources that directly support individuals in recovery. Visit our donation page to learn more.
