GivingTuesday: A Day of Hope, Healing & Helping Others

| Sarah Warrengooglechat |

At 7th Street Treatment Center, we believe deeply in second chances, human connection, and the power of togetherness. GivingTuesday offers an opportunity for our community — former clients, families, friends, supporters, and those just learning about us — to help fuel recovery, healing, and hope for more people.

As we approach the holiday season, many of us think about shopping deals, family gatherings, and year-end reflections. But there’s one special day that invites us to pause — and give back. That day is GivingTuesday, the global movement dedicated to generosity, community, and compassion.

How You Can Help This GivingTuesday

Here are concrete ways to get involved this year:

Donate online. Use the “Donate” link on our website to make a one-time or monthly gift — every dollar helps.

Spread the word. Share on social media, tell friends or family, or talk about us in your community. Awareness is powerful.

Volunteer or connect. If you can offer time, mentorship, or support — even a simple message of encouragement — it can mean a lot to someone in early recovery.

Donate essential items. This year, we are especially in need of:

  • Oversized throw blankets (queen size, 50 x 70)
  • Hygiene items: shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothpaste, deodorant
  • Warm clothing: socks, coats, hoodies
Your donation of these items provides comfort, dignity, and immediate support to individuals building a new life in recovery.

You may drop off items any time between 9am-5pm Monday-Friday.

Give in your unique way. Generosity doesn’t have to look the same for everyone. Whether you give financially, donate needed items, or help share our mission, you are helping someone feel seen and supported.

We believe that the opposite of addiction is connection — and on GivingTuesday, every connection and every act of generosity helps build that path.

What Is GivingTuesday?

GivingTuesday was first launched in 2012 by the 92nd Street Y in New York City (in partnership with the United Nations Foundation) — as a simple idea: after shopping-heavy days like Black Friday and Cyber Monday, what if there was a day focused on generosity and giving back?

Over time, it has grown into a global generosity movement — inspiring individuals, businesses, and nonprofits around the world to support causes, give time, donate resources, or raise awareness.

GivingTuesday is always the Tuesday after the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday. For 2025, that falls on Tuesday, December 2.

Importantly, any nonprofit — registered or informal community group — can take part. There’s no need to “register” or pay a fee. You simply choose how to engage: fundraising, volunteering, storytelling, advocacy.

Why GivingTuesday Matters for 7th Street Treatment Center

At 7th Street Treatment Center, our mission is more than just helping people quit substances — it’s about reconnecting with life, building relationships, and creating a stable foundation for recovery. GivingTuesday aligns deeply with that mission:

Fuel critical services. Donations help provide housing, essentials, community activities, and wrap-around support for individuals in recovery — services many rely on during a critical period of transition.

Create a ripple of impact. One gift — whether large or small — helps someone feel supported, cared for, and invested in. When many people contribute, it strengthens the entire 7th Street community.

Offer hope and solidarity. For individuals struggling alone, knowing a caring community supports recovery can make all the difference. GivingTuesday lets supporters step up and be part of that hope.

Sustain long-term change. While one-time gifts help, regular ongoing support maintains programs and services that make recovery possible. GivingTuesday is a meaningful moment to start or renew that commitment.

A Message From the Heart ❤️

This GivingTuesday, we invite you to stand with us. To remember that recovery is not a solitary journey, but a community effort. To believe that even small acts of kindness — a few dollars, your time, your voice, or a warm blanket — can breathe hope into lives seeking healing.

Together, we can show that recovery doesn’t just mean sobriety — it means support, dignity, compassion, and a chance at a renewed life.

Thank you for being part of our community.

With gratitude,
The 7th Street Treatment Center Team
